How to figure out what's causing a jail broken iPhone/iPod to crash?

Rather than going into Cydia's list of installed packages to uninstall the topmost tweaks, then wait and see if it's stable. Even though this would probably work out, it's certainly neither fun or efficient.

The Cydia apps and tweaks are way too convenient to be reverting to a non-jailbreaking device.

1. Check for the Diagnostics reports in Preferences go to General > About > Diagnostics & Usage. Information will be provided for the crash report.

2. Install Crash Reporter and syslogd from Cydia. You will be able to get information about crashes using this app. If you are having trouble getting into Cydia, try disabling MobileSubstrate.

MobileSubstrate protects you from a badly behaving tweaks via Safe Mode.
